Get thee gone now, and stay well hidden ...

The big lie:

I’ve never leaked or backgrounded against anyone. And I certainly won’t start now.

So if you wear rubber gloves and your office does it for you, you didn't do it?

Makes the pond wonder about that other promise:

There will be no wrecking, no undermining, and no sniping.

And as for the rest of the blather:

The nature of politics has changed in the past decade. We have more polls and more commentary than ever before. Mostly sour, bitter, character assassination. Poll driven politics has produced a revolving door prime ministership which can’t be good for our country. And a febrile media culture has developed that rewards treachery.
And if there’s one piece of advice I can give to the media, it’s this: refuse to print self-serving claims that the person making them won’t put his or her name to.
Refuse to connive with dishonour by acting as the assassin’s knife.

Well there's some classic chutzpah, and speaking of the febrile, it doesn't get much more febrile than the dog botherer:

Speaking of a febrile media culture:

The deeply coarsened, crude and feverish media circus that brought him to power, and now he complains about it ...

So now will the persons or persons who debriefed the Terror on a weekly basis come out of the closet?

Get thee gone, and stay well hidden, you shameless, god-invoking wretch ...

    1. "...*&%$!"

A bit from the jesuit mental reservation schooling manual there, UC? How apt for this lying pommie "shameless, god-invoking wretch" of a nutter.

Abbott today - Few of us, after all, entirely measure up to expectations.

Oh no, ya dingaling, you measured up alright:

(Malcolm) Turnbull had an articulated intelligent moderate thought-out conservative position. The fact is that Abbott does not have this.”

“If Tony Abbott ends up the prime minister of Australia you've gotta say `God help us. God help us'.

“Truly an intellectual nobody. And no policy ambition. You know, I mean, is that all there is?

"He turned up in the last couple of years when I was prime minister. I used to regard him as a sort of resident nutter on their side.”

"If you want to go round telling lies all your life, historical lies like Abbott does, fine..."

    2. Ross Gittins, 08/12/13 - "With our neophyte Prime Minister and his Treasurer struggling to find their feet - and a direction to travel in - let's hope they've been watching the ABC's interviews with Paul Keating. If not, they're out on DVD this week."

Coincidently (?) ABC repeated Keating, Episode 1 (beginnings, power, Lang - time, enemies) last night after libspill.

Mondays, next 3 weeks at 23:29.

  2. To the man who reduced intelligent political debate down to the three word slogan, I can but give the one finger salute!

  3. A fine patrician family at the induction, with excellent pedigree on both sides. Lucy's Uncle Bob would have been able to illustrate the course of events with many of Goya's paintings. 'El pavo muerto (The Dead Turkey)', 'The Family of Carlos IV', 'Manuel Godoy, Duke of Alcudia, "Prince of the Peace"', 'La aguadora (The Water Carrier')', 'Inquisition Scene'.

  4. On September 15, 2015 at 12:00AM Janet Albrechsten reported that “Malcolm Turnbull has more guts than Peter Costello. Not content to complain from the sidelines about a government headed over the electoral cliff, Turnbull’s decision to challenge Prime Minister Tony Abbott for the leadership was courageous.”

It’s now just after 6pm and she has yet to complete measuring Turnbull’s ego. The measurement should be complete by next Tuesday afternoon.

  5. Daily Terror's front page this morning featured photo of Turnbull with large caption The Smiling Assassin. Did they have a similar front page when Abbott took over?
Dare we hope for better government now? I wonder. I am inclined to wonder whether the media will improve its coverage, reporting and analysis of government decisions and the details of legislation. But that would require them to to do some real work instead of sitting around sniggering at their own wit.

  6. DP- I believe this is what you meant. Australia talking to Abbott.

    Hamlet:
    I did love you once.

    Ophelia:
Indeed, my lord, you made me believe so.

    Hamlet:
You should not have believ'd me, for virtue cannot so
inoculate our old stock but we shall relish of it. I lov'd you not.

    Ophelia:
    I was the more deceiv'd.

    Hamlet:
Get thee to a nunn'ry, why woulds't thou be a breeder of
    sinners?
