In which Malware's comedy routines leave the reptiles and the pond walking on eggshells ...

The pond values humour, though the ability to laugh at oneself is more handy than the ability to laugh at others ...

Today's study concerns the complete lack of humour in reptiles, and the need to conflate everything into mass panic and mindless hysteria ...

It wasn't just the front page of the tree killer edition. The top of the digital edition also showed off the condition ... which involved a conga line of contrite sucks alarmed that the Donald would take a gate as well as a fence ...

The dog botherer was, as he usually is, somewhere near the head of the pack ...

But note the timing ... that was before the full panic kicked in ... though it was pleasing to note that as usual, it was all the fault of Fairfax and the ABC ...

Put it another way ...

And so to the tiptoeing ... with the bromancer leading the way ...

Of course when thinking of the bromancer, the pond thinks that line could be sensibly modified to read "only the truly stupid can be so seriously stupid as the bromancer ...."

Indeed, indeed ...

On with the clucking and the tutting, prime chook ...

And then it was the turn of the bouffant one ..

.

Put it another way ...

Now the question that occurred to the pond was who was the fairest alarmist of them all. Who would be the pond's pick as the Chicken Little belle of the ball?

Right there and then, the pond knew that the bouffant one had won hands down.

That story of Gillard's removal weeks after making a remotely funny speech was a ripper, because the two events were connected exactly how?, ,and the pond felt the need to judge it the winner, right there and then, with the judge's decision final.

Fortunately, there was still much mirth to follow ...

Let's face it, if the onion muncher had suddenly become the editor of the lizard Oz, could he have assembled a finer team ...

A grave error of judgment? The sky is falling because he cracked a few jokes to insiders? And never mind that he totally fucked the NBN, digital transformation and all the rest of it?

Put it another way ...

Even the allegedly "straight" coverage was comical ...

Now there's no doubt that Turnbull is a fool, but is this news? Or has he been doubly cunning, and doubled down, and attempted to use humour to attempt to give himself and his government some kind of humanity ...

Is it possible for one comedy routine to do that, up against the darkness at the core?

More Pope here, but it's back to the reptiles expressing serious concern and deep alarm in their "straight" onion muncher inspired coverage ...

Yes, it's an international catastrophe, a disaster of the first water, and soon enough the insults will be flying in all directions ...

Through it all, that fear of eggshell walking is an astonishing sight to see ... a bit like wondering if Charlie Chaplin had gone too far by making The Great Dictator ...

An angry tweet?

We'll cop an angry tweet from an infantile narcissist currently busy fucking the United States every which way?

Join the queue ...

As usual, the pond felt a deep affinity with David Rowe and that old  song ... with more Rowe here ...

Oh and while on the subject of reptile ironies, this is the ad that YouTube served up while the pond was looking up that Stealers Wheels song ...

Thinking of the planet and the Donald, the pond could feel that cheerful, caring thoughtful response to the reptiles returning at full throttle ...

  1. Sheridan: "Who could have guessed that a room full of Trump-hating, left-of-centre journalists would leak the story of a conservative prime minister, fresh from repairing a serious episode of trouble in his relationship with a president engaging in sub-par Saturday Night Live mocking of that president ?"

Shanahan: "Laurie Oakes is free and justified to report a speech that has the potential to embarrass the Prime Minister and sour relations with the President.

Oakes: said he was not present at the the event and was therefore not bound by any undertakings not to disclose the speech. "But I don't go to the Ball and audio just happened to leak, plus a sample was posted on Instagram."

Well that sorts it all out then. It must have been some of those Trump-hating, left-of-centre journalists who leaked the audio to a reptile journalist who is "free and justified to report". The Murdoch Press triumphs once again.

  2. A pair of beautiful sucker punches there DP!......although maybe the first one felt a bit more like a kick to the head, with the weave of the Pope.
As always, a superior happy ending on top of a tragic tale. Cheers.
