In which the pond mocks the bromancer, caught up in his digital silo ...

What's so funny about the mocker who has taken up residence at the lizard Oz? And no, it isn't the red tie on a white shirt, and the notion that he might be black, or a woman or a TG person in disguise ...

Well for years the reptiles have railed against the digerati, and anonymity on the full to overflowing intertubes, and blogs such as the pond - oh how they hate social media and its spawn - and yet here they are, no better and perhaps a little worse.

Worse because there's nothing in the rabid outpourings of this particular mocker that the dog botherer or the Bolter or other professionals paid to put their name to their pieces couldn't have come up with in a typical day's outing for the Murdochians ...

This sort of stuff ...

Now newspapers have in the past done this sort of angle, featuring the insider too inside to dare to reveal their name, but carrying on about the red pill film, Islamics, Waleed Aly and Media Watch?

How does that require anonymity? That's just another dull day at the office for your average reptile member of the commentariat ...

Well while we're at it, we may as well explain to Crikey the way the robots work, and why you shouldn't put the answer to your question anywhere near the top of the page ... because the only thing you've got going for you in click bait speculation is keeping the name you're speculating about hidden ...

Never mind.

Sure it's titillating that the dog botherer might skulk around like the cur he is, and sure, given all the nonsense he's written about anonymous social media, the hypocrisy would be rich beyond measure ...

If he was actually behind the mocker, what marvellous mockery there would be, putting the dog botherer in the company of arm-breaker Mark Latham's tweets ... except that everyone already knows the dog botherer's a minor war criminal, delusional and barking mad, and he could join Latham writing a column for the Terror as a reward for anonymous bile ...

The pond began brooding about this because also this day the bromancer was out and about, and sure enough there was talk of digital silos in the click bait splash ...

Warring tribes gathering in angry digital silos?

Was that code for the Mocker gathering in angry digital lizard Oz?

But it turned out that it was just a bit of reflexive click baitery, and once again the search engine robots were closer to the mark ...

Never mind, there might only be a passing reference to the warring mocker gathered in an angry reptile digital silo, but the rest of the piece looked just as good ... because the pond loves it when the reptiles go into apocalyptic mode, and sound like a hysterical panel gathered for cable news to announce the impending end of the world, possibly without a rapture ...

And there we have it:

These splintering and scattering effects have been greatly accelerated by the dominance of social media, so that people now cluster mentally in internet silos that reflect entirely their existing interests, opinions and, increasingly, paranoia.

The irony, even for bearded tatted hipsters in search of the perfect barista coffee in Surry Hills somewhere near the Murdochian bunker (the pond recently discovered it could do better with the home machine), is beyond rich.

Please allow the pond to propose a slightly different wording:

These splintering and scattering effects have been greatly accelerated by the dominance of Murdochian media, so that anonymous reptiles like the Mocker now cluster mentally in internet silos that reflect entirely their existing interests, opinions and, increasingly, paranoia.

As for the rest of the bromancer's hysterical cries of fear and loathing, the pond first came across the mentality in a poem which bowled the pond over long, long ago in Tamworth ...

Here with a reminder that Yeats wrote the poem in the aftermath of the first world war ... a more consequential event that many noted by the bromancer ...

Put it another way ...

And so to the punchline, the payoff to the apocalyptic, catastrophist thinking of the bromancer ...

Never mind the ineffable inanity of the Tory lover, since it's the Tories who entirely managed the debacle of Brexit all on their own ...they managed, with an almost infinite capacity for bumbling and stumbling, to slouch out of Europe, to bring forth a mouse of a government, and perforce a mouse of a country ...

Never mind all that ... never mind the Murdochian cheer squads that helped produce the current fundamentalist GOP and the Donald takeover, never mind the deep corruption of American politics by these baleful activities ...

Instead look at the half-hearted, ineffectual way the bromancer retreated, having done is click bait duty ...

Certainly, there might be blood?

"Certainly" and "might" in the one pathetic co-joining sentence?

There's already been blood. The argument is about the size and the extent of the blood to be shed, and how many minor war criminals of the dog botherer who can be found to help with the task of useless wars that solve nothing ...

In the meantime, certainly there will be half-baked inanities and much handwringing and useless speculation of the kind the Brexiteering Murdochian Tories routinely produce ...

At least now the way forward is clear. The entire reptile commentariat can be reduced to the status of an anonymous blog like the pond ... and everyone can put the mockers on the mockers ...

And so to the Pope in all his papal finery, helping the pond keep track of more immediate and real discussion starters, with more papery here ..

  1. Bromancer: "...the whites who might even be described as an underclass."

And, too, they might even be described as "white trash" a term that's been around since about the 1830s and is even a chapter title in Harriet Beecher Stowe's book 'A key to Uncle Tom's Cabin' of 1840.

    Indeed:
In common usage, "white trash" overlaps in meaning with "cracker" (regarding Georgia and Florida), "hillbilly" (regarding Appalachia), "Okie" (regarding Oklahoma origins), and "redneck". The main difference is that "redneck", "cracker", "Okie", and "hillbilly" emphasize that a person is poor and uneducated and comes from the backwoods with little awareness of the modern world, while "white trash" emphasizes the person's moral failings."

    And those "moral failings":
"The term has been adopted for people living on the fringes of the social order, who are seen as dangerous because they may be criminal, unpredictable, and without respect for authority whether it be political, legal, or moral."

  2. Deplorables maybe - - - Funny how the fault all lies with the left choosing to take offence, stirring up dissent, exaggerating failings. A bit like saying "if you don't like the way I drive get off the footpath". An alternate explanation would be that they are calling out a racist, misogynistic dullard.

  3. The irony of the bromancers' depiction of left wing students in the US silencing opponents at the instigation of outside elements is beyond irony. As Prof Margaret O'Mara informed a disappointed Tom Switzer on Sunday, students are actually reacting to outsiders: right-wing provocateurs who seek controversy and then decry the lack of freedom of speech on US campuses.

  4. It sure is stunning to watch the humbug silo dwellers from Newscorpse, who have dominated and poisoned the political landscape across the West for nigh on 60 years, to start lamenting the state of the game that they themselves, long ago, set the narrative, and now as their chickens come home to roost, start wailing about bleeding. Greg would have had a happier life if he had learned to play a wiser, less ideologically hateful tune........
